I've been using the birth control patch since Sept 2006 and I stop using because it was leaving marks and scars on my skin. Should I switch to the pill?Why does the Birth Control Patch leave scars and scabs?
Are you rotating the site you apply the patch? Using the same spot will weaken the skin and can cause skin tears. You could also have a reaction to adhesive on the patch this is not uncommon, talk to your doc about it.Why does the Birth Control Patch leave scars and scabs?
The patches are skin irritants. If you're having a problem you can always try another form of birth control until you find one you like.

The black box warning for the Ortho Evra patch warns users against using the drugs if they suffer from any of the following side effects:





* a history of heart attack or stroke;


* blood clots in the legs, lungs, or eyes;

* chest pain;


* breast cancer, cancer of the lining of the uterus, or cervical or vaginal cancer;


* unexplained vaginal bleeding;


* hepatitis or yellowing of the whites of the eyes during pregnancy or while taking birth control;


* liver tumor;


* known or suspected pregnancy;


* high blood pressure;


* diabetes;


* headaches with neurological symptoms;


* use of oral contraceptives;


* disease of heart valves;


* or an allergic reaction to any of the components of Ortho Evra.

It's called side effects, it's something you risk with these ';medications';
if it's leaving marks on you then you should strongly consider switching to a different form of birth control.
