Would botox be the answer to my ance scars?

Would it fill in the indented scars in my face? Once you get botox do you have to keep up the procedure or does it eventually wear off and your scars come back?

Also does going to an acne specailist actually work? or is it just a waste of money?

No, botox is a chemical the paralyzes muscle. This works well for removing wrinkle because it allows the facial muscles to relax, reducing the appearance of wrinkle.

Your acne scar is a divot in the skin and has nothing to do with muscle, botox would do little to help.

One thing that might help is collagen injections. Injecting collagen into your scar may fill it in, making it even with the skin around it. Unfortunately, collagen fades with time and you would have to have periodic injections. This course of treatment must, of course, be discussed with a dermatologist.Would botox be the answer to my ance scars?
Botox is for wrinkles. It works by relaxing the muscles around the wrinkle, causing the wrinkle to smooth out. Basically it is used as an anti-aging treatment. And yes, it does wear out, usually in about 4 to 6 months. More information on Botox injections is at http://www.healthyu-skin.org/aging_skin_鈥?/a>

For acne scars, however, this is really not what you're looking for. You would do better with some of the other options. It really depends on the type of scar. For some hollow areas, dermal fillers such as collagen or Juvederm or Restylane might be appropriate. Really deep scars can be treated with a different type of filler such as Sculptra. There are also fat injections, which use your own body fat, taken from a different area. None of these are permanent, and they have to be repeated every 6 months or so. Finally, you might ask a dermatologist or plastic surgeon about dermabrasion. This basically sands the skin, which can make the surface more even. There is also laser resurfacing, which does the same thing, only with lasers. More on that is at http://www.healthyu-skin.org/acne_scars.鈥?/a>
Only dermatologists can treat these scars by either peeling off the upper layers of the skin and/or filling the craters left by the previous acne. It is expensive but that's the only way which works.
