Does putting tape over surgical scars really help? If so, what kind of tape?

I recently had surgery for scoliosis and was left with a pretty intense scar. I've heard that tape helps. Do I put scar reducing ointment on under the tape? And more importantly what kind of tape do I use and how long do I leave it on?Does putting tape over surgical scars really help? If so, what kind of tape?
pure local honey...buy it from a farmers market or local bee farmer. I found a bee farmer on craiglist and got it for $5 a bottle. Then I got gauze and medical tape from walmart for less than $5.

At night, I put a layer of honey to the gauze and taped it to my leg. In the morning I washed it and repeated the honey application at night. Within 2 days one scar is completely gone and the other is almost gone and the redness of it is gone.

You should def ask your doctor since the scar is from a surgery. My scars were not that big and not from a surgery!!Does putting tape over surgical scars really help? If so, what kind of tape?
I'm not sure about tape never heard of it's benefits before but a friend of mine put me on to a derma roller for my acne scars (which were really bad btw) and they have completely gone now, it says on the site I bought it from that it is also effective on surgery scars, as well as stuff like stretch marks and wrinkles etc
